The most famous typical dish is the pupusa, rice or corn tortillas stuffed with beans, pork, cheese or even shrimp among many other options and then toasted on a griddle. In recent years, interest has grown in Salvadoran coffee and farms now export their coffee beans all over the world.

In recent years, adventure tourism has begun to flourish in El Salvador as many people make their way to enjoy trekking volcanoes, surfing the giant swells, ziplining through the tree canopy or splashing in waterfalls.
